Mobile handset maker Sony Ericsson is closing the gap on third placed vendor Motorola and says it gained 1% market share in the third quarter to end up with 9% of the market. But with the big explosion in sales in developing countries, the average selling price of each phone fell 18.4% below last years level to 120 euros ($169.9m) and profits were squeezed.
